To the Editor:
I see that the Conservative media has been working very hard in the last week trying to scare the average Canadian into being afraid of the proposed coalition. Congratulations guys, you have done it again, you have proved yet again that you have the most money to dup the Canadian public into being afraid of the scary separatists and the spooky socialists.
I personally find it really funny that Stephen Harper, the head of the Conservative party, which by the way used to be the Reform and PC parties, is opposed to a coalition like this, and claims that it is undemocratic. Well who asked you Mr. Harper? It's not like you were actually elected, I may suck at math, thanks to the Conservative handling of the Ontario school system, but I know that 38% does not a majority make. If the opposition parties received 62% of the vote then they really would be working for the best interest of the Canadian population; after all, we actually voted for them.
It is also important to mention that the Bloc would not be part of the coalition, they are just giving their support to the Liberals and NDP, but that is not what Harper would have you believe.
Admittedly I am not a Conservative supporter, and I think that I will be opposed to the Conservatives until pigs take flight because after all that I have observed and all that their party has done in the past they do not have the best interests of Canadians at heart, and they are only interested in their own bottom line. I really don't understand how people continue to support the Conservatives after they have royally screwed up our country.. Thanks to the Conservatives we have a free trade agreement with the United States, which over 70% of Canadians were opposed to, and have been relying on them more and more to support our economy; which I believe is what got us into this economic mess in the first place. A few other things to add to the crimes that the Conservatives have committed against Canadians are; they dismantled our gold standard, Canadian gold is now worthless over-seas because we cannot guarantee that there is a percentage of 99% of gold in each Canadian ingot. They sold the 407, which would have made them millions over years, but they are only interested in quick band-aid fixes (yes I know that was the provincial Conservative government, but a Conservative is a Conservative whether they have provincial or federal power), and recently they tried to sell the LCBO, one of the last Canadian owned businesses we have left, and for the exact same reason. Not to mention that the last election that we had was a monumental waste of money.
Yes Harper kept his promise to lower GST, but that was the wrong tax to lower. If he really had any interest in helping the Canadian economy a cut to income tax would have gone a lot further. After all what do people do when they have more money? They spend it, which as far as I know, stimulates the economy. Either Harper is bad at math, or he is a product of his own Party's school system.
So in closing I would like to remind our fellow Canadians to stay informed on all issues before getting up in arms about what one person is saying, listen to all the arguments before making up your mind. And maybe take a history course to learn what these parties have done for us in the past, after all it helped me make up my mind.

| An Update |

Well it's been a while since I updated... so here goes...
About a week before x-mas my grandfather passed away... which made for a really crappy x-mas, I still was able to spend it with my grandmother, which was nice, but stange. It really didn't feel like x-mas.
School is going alright, though Socioology is depressing as hell... talk about globalization and global inequalities... really depressing stuff.
Though once I got over the crappiness of the winter holiday I found out a few weeks ago that an old friend of mine, granted one I hadn't talked to for a while, had been in a horrific car accident, and a coma had to be induced to help her through the pain. She is awake now, but still has a long road ahead. She worked at one of the bars that I used to frequent and has a 3 year old daughter... so the bar that she worked at held a fundraiser for her daughter and raised $14,000.
I think that it's pretty apparent that I have been suffering a bout of depression for the last month or so. I saw my therapist about it and she is suggesting that I might want to consider anti-depressants until winter passes... but I am feeling much better today...
Sorry for the really despressing update, I just felt that I needed to write some of this stuff down to get it out, you know?

Alright, well it's been a long time since I update this thing... and a lot has happened since...
My grandfather has been in the hospital for the last few weeks, and I got a call from my dad yesterday letting me know that my grandfather passed away on Wed... I was really hoping that he would hold on until Christmas... so that he could see the rest of his family and such.
Well the funeral is on Monday and that is going to be rough...

I have a few questions for any christian fundamentalists out there... I don't mean to make any of this sound offensive... but I just really want to know why it is that you believe the things that you do... especially when it comes to creationism as it is written in Genesis...
1. How did Adam know that he was naked after eating the apple? There was no need for clothing in the garden to protect himself from the elements and the only other things in the garden with him were eve, who was also naked and animals who do not wear clothing either.
2. How can you be happy with a deity who wanted humanity to be stupid?
3. If the garden of Eden did happen then why is there no monotheistic religion in history until Zarathustrianism in about 600 BC?
I appreciate anyone willing to answer these questions for me.

So my employer fixed the number of hours that I'm supposed to have for my vacation.. however they have me scheduled for vacation on days that I'm not supposed to be working to begin with! I thought that the point of having a vacation is to not be working on days that I would normally be working... I'm really, really pissed right off. I spoke to a manager and she said that it is so that I get 40 hours that week..... which kind of defeats the purpose of even scheduling the vacation to begin with.... fuck I hate it here! I'm going to give them until Wed... if nothing is fixed I"m giving them my two weeks notice... and getting my OSAP reassesed...

I thought that I would be smart and schedule my vacation time for my reading week... well apparently my employer had a problem with that.... now the total hours of my vacation should be the average of what I have worked in the last three months... I just switched to part time as of Sept 3rd... before that I was working 40 hrs... and since I have been working 20-26 hours wk... and they have me scheduled for 12 hours vacation time that week.... not to mention that they have me scheduled for vacation on days that I don't regularly work.... like Tues & Thurs... because I usually have classes those days and cannot switch gears so easily.... not to mention the fact that they have me working on the weekend... and I have not had a weekend off since Labour day! I'm really fucking pissed right the fuck off!

So so very bitter today... I haven't slept well in 3 weeks, I'm very tired... and I'm very tired of speaking to idiotic Americans who think that their computer is broken when it won't do what they EXPECT it to do... 90% of those cases are because what you want to do is something that you can't do... sorry a mac does not support multisession disks.... sorry you can't use quicktime to play wmv files... yes you have to pay for Microsoft office... no it wasn't free with your PC, you had a pirated copy before... sorry apple does not support Microsoft word... yes I know that Microsoft support sucks but that is not my problem... sigh... so the computer is not powering on? And you expect me to do what? You should be taking it into a service provider... there is fuck all I can do over the phone!
Not to mention the people who think that they know more then me when they call.... well if you know so much then why the FUCK are you calling me?
I swear that lessons to use a computer should be mandatory before purchasing one... you know like you need a license before you can drive a car....
Sorry I just really needed to vent... and this was in no way directed at any particular american... I have many american friends that are quite computer savvy... however it's never the computer savvy ones that call...
I'm also VERY bitter because my schedule has not changed to reflect the fact that I'm going back to school next month... this company will let people drop to part time and give them a schedule that works around their school schedule when attending,.. but I am only scheduled for three more days this week... today tomorrow and Fri... and if it is not changed by fri I am not going to be in on the weekend, or Tuesday when my shift starts at 1 as I will be in orientation until 5... I will be there on Wed... no classes that day... but won't be Thurs or Fri... and if they try to give me shit about it I told them in JULY that I will be back in school... they have no excuse... if they give me shit I will just give them the finger and quit... that simple... but I do not need that shit!

Ok, so I do not have the best job in the world... but it's not the worst either... as call centers go this one isn't that bad... I have worked in many bad ones... but I hate the politics in large companies... I really do... I told my manager that I would be going back to school way back in July, he knew that come Sept I would be going back, I told him that I would like to continue to work here part time while going to school provided I can work a schedule around my classes, he said that wouldn't be a problem. So when I finally got my schedule about 2 weeks ago I brought it in and filled out a form for when I cannot work. Now the interesting thing is that the schedule for the first week of Sept was already posted when I gave him this sheet, and I was waiting patiently until the week after when they would release the new schedules and they would most likely make the changes then... this was not the case... instead of fixing my schedule they have me booked for full time for the first 3 weeks of school... now this is completely and totally not cool! If something is not done about this soon I may end up having to quit my job because other people here cannot do theirs!

Ok so it's been a few days... what can i write for an update?
Well the school supply stuff is all done, I have my OSAP appointment on Thurs.
My bf got a new job that he's not thrilled about, his boss aka his father told him that he is going to be retiring soon, about a month ago and kind of left my bf looking for work frantically, he found work as a night shift supervisor at Arbys... but he's not exactly happy about working with fast food... having been down that road I don't blame him, but i keep assuring him that although he may never love the job he will get used to it, he's also going back to school in Sept and is taking computer engineering... so he just has to make it through 3 years doing something that he hates before he can get a job in a field that he would enjoy... which is what he's been telling me for the last 3 years... irony is fun :)
I'm really anxious to be starting school and I have a lot of very interesting courses, English Lit, Sociology, Philosophy, Analytical thinking and a generic writing course... I'm really looking forward to it.

So last night I burned a new CD for work... but the bloody thing works on my computer not in my mp3 CD player... it just skips through each track like there is nothing on them... so I had my bf try to burn it again and the same bloody thing happened! Stupid itunes!

Well I was just outside on my break and was talking to a co-worker who was taking part in a protest at Alquonquin park for the last week... apparently the story goes like this:
the Canadian government has sold the mining rights to some areas, some of which are native land, without acknowledging the native claim, they want to put in a uranium strip mine about 3 km into Alquonquin park... I wondered why such a protest was not being broadcast and apparently it is a very peaceful protest, that native population and the locals of the area (both native and non native) are working together because neither wants these mines there, even the OPP of the area are siding with the natives. Essentially what they are doing is peacefully asking the miners to leave and escorting them off the properties... I was very glad to hear that such a large scale protest is going as peacefully as it is... and glad to hear that the entire community has come together because none of them want these mines... but I'm very upset that this is not getting any media coverage, and even more upset that the land was sold in the first place.

So I'm sitting at my computer and I hear an ad for Smallville... and I really want to know why they are using the music from Chosen?? WTF?? Well that was my thought for the day...
Other news... I'm getting OSAP! I got all the paper work I need in, and they are going to take over my next payment... which makes me very happy... that's a sudden 409$ that I don't have to worry about tomorrow... :D
I also got my course list, and am going to be taking Philosophy, English Lit, Sociology, Literal Thinking and a general communications course... overall not a bad schedule, and I only have one 8 am class... the rest don't start until 11 and I have Wednesdays off... so it looks like I'll be working Weekends and Wednesdays... so that's not so bad... 24 hours a week...

so I got an email from a friend of mine stating that the match between my character and Winter may not happen, b/c Winter would not fight a woman... ok yeah makes sense but my problem with that is that I'm the ONLY woman who is active in the Fed... if other people feel the same why regarding their characters then I will be left with no matches... which kind of defeats the purpose of being in the Fed to begin with....
